Hunger is a largely hidden social problem in this country and many victims suffer in silence.
The victims could be a child, unemployed or elderly person in your street. One in every 10 people in Australia live below the poverty line, and can’t afford the standard 3 meals per day. Each year, two million Australians will rely on food relief and around half of them will be children. In monetary terms, we’re wasting $5.2 billion worth of food each year. Much of this food is fit for human consumption and could go to hungry mouths.
