About Casey
Dr. Casey Conroy is a nutritionist, yoga teacher and health presenter currently based on the Gold Coast. She has a thorough understanding of food and its interaction with human and animal body systems, having completed a bachelors degree in Veterinary Science.
During her undergraduate degree she developed raw insight into the realities of food-producing animal agriculture which ignited her interest in human nutrition.
Casey is passionate about sharing what she has learnt with you! She is completing a Master in Nutrition and Dietetics to become a DAA-Registered dietitian. This will enable her to treat chronic diseases such as cancer and diabetes using food as medicine, at a price accessible to all.
Casey’s passion is to share with you her love for natural wholefoods nutrition, and understanding of the physically rejuvenating and spiritually uplifting powers of yoga. Casey believes a yogic and healthy eating lifestyle should be accessible to all and she endeavours to build a highly conscious community on the Gold Coast based on wholefoods and natural living principles.
You too can benefit from the myriad mind, body and spiritual benefits of a yogic/wholefoods lifestyle and amplify your sense of purpose and vitality. Casey encourages us to strive for Ishvara Pranidhana – our highest purpose – and the tools she offers can help you to build a strong foundation of inner and outer health upon which to create the life you were born to live.
Casey fuses her scientific background with Eastern wisdom traditions to bring vibrancy and meaning into people’s lives through yoga, adventurous exercise, and a high-vibration plant-based diet!
Nutrition
Casey’s passion is to teach others about an innovative and fresh approach to nutrition, fusing the best of raw food, eastern nutrition philosophies and western clinical dietetics to achieve a balanced, energising diet perfect for your body and soul. Her natural yet scientifically-sound approach to nutrition integrates yogic mindfulness with modern science, to clean our bodies and return them to their natural, free-flowing state. You can see and experience hands on just how easy and fun this can be in any of Casey’s workshops and talks!
Yoga
Casey was introduced to yoga in her first year of university, and started off practising Iyengar yoga. She fell in love with the Iyengar principles of anatomical alignment and the peaceful yogic philosophies. Learning about the yamas and niyamas for the first time made sense of her love of animals and the earth. Combined with what she was learning at university as a veterinary undergrad, the decision to reduce her intake of animal foods was natural and brought a new life and energy to her body.
As her practice became more serious and combined with a plant-based diet, she watched her body become much stronger as painful repetitive ankle and knee injuries from triathlon training disappeared.
After finishing her degree she undertook her first yoga teacher training before embarking on a soul journey to South-East Asia. Whilst in Thailand, she taught yoga on Koh Tao, studied Anusara and AcroYoga, and explored flying trapeze. In Chiang Mai she completed a course in Thai Massage, a healing art that combines massage and yoga asana with an emphasis on metta (loving-kindness).
Casey has integrated her experiences to create the light-hearted, invigorating Jungle Yoga system. Her classes are fun, expansive and she encourages clients to make their practice meaningful to them. Living vibrantly should be joyful and simple, allowing connection with community to strengthen the mind and open the heart of the individual.
Her classes draw on the playfulness of Acroyoga and Slacklining, the flow of creative Vinyasa and the alignment of Iyengar yoga to bring out the inner child whilst being challenging at times! She places an emphasis on safe and enjoyable exploration of movement with lots of laughter. Integrating pranayama, bandhas, meditation and relaxation, Casey’s classes will leave you feeling fully recharged yet calm, in a state of samana – even balance.
Green Smoothie Yoga
Green Smoothie Yoga has been a dream that has been manifesting into reality since mid-2009 when Casey spent time in Asia learning many different styles of yoga and teaching on a tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand.
Hatha yoga was the inspiration behind the design of this website. Ha-tha literally means sun-moon yoga.
